FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services Immunization Assistance Program is offering a free whooping cough vaccination clinic from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25 at the Sam Pannell Community Center, 2450 Meadowview Road.

Anyone age 10 and older can receive a whooping cough booster shot (also known as a Tdap). Parents are encouraged to bring their child’s immunization record to the clinic, if it is available.

A new state law requires junior high and high school students to be immunized against pertussis (whooping cough) and to show proof of immunization to their school in order to register for the upcoming fall semester. Students who received a booster shot on or after their 7th birthday have already met the requirement.
